ATROCITY EXHIBITIONS

The achievements of compaigning documentarists will be recognised on December 9 by the ECHO (European Community Humanitarian Office) Television and Radio Awards. Set up to acknowledge the power of the media in bringing the cost of human suffering to a wider audience, the awards will comprise six categories: People On the Move; In The Minds Of People; Forgotten Conflicts; Vulnerable Goups; Radio Award; Broadcast Commitment.

There were 220 entries from troughout the European Community, 18 of wich have been shortlisted, including Nick Gray's Escape From Tibet' and Jhon Pliger and David Munro's Inside Burma-Land of Fear'. Following the awards there will be a debate attended by the winners to discuss "ratings responsability".
