"Dead Man Walking" is Tim Robbins' screen version of a gutwrenching true story about a repentant killer (Sean Penn) who suffers during the long countdown toward his execution and a Roman Catholic nun (Susan Sarandon) who becomes his pen pal. At first, we see her struggle with the inhumanity and anguish of the death penalty. Then, she befriends the families of the victims and understands the devastating grief and rage they feel. The story sensitively navigates the complex personal, ethical, and legal issues involved, balancing compassion for both the criminals on death row and the people whose lives they have destroyed.
"Dead Man Walking" is also a book written by Sister Helen Prejan, the Catholic nun, real protagonist of this story. The book is already available in the bookstores and is being translated into French and German.
We hope the movie will have succes in America and consequently distributed in the rest of the world. If you are in the U.S.A. at the end of January don't miss this movie.
