Today, November 29, 1996, was organized the concluding press-conference of originators of Kyiv seminar on abolition of the death penalty. Mr Serhiy GOLOVATY - Minister of Justice of Ukraine; Mr Anatoly PRISTAVKIN - Chairman of the Presidential Pardon Commission of Russia; Professor Roder HOOD - Director of the Oxford Centre for Criminological Studies; Mr Peter HODGKINSON - Director of the Centre for Capital Punishment Studies of University of Westminister School of Law; Mr Eric PROKOSCH - Theme Research Coordinator of Amnesty International; and members on Legal Affairs and Human Rights of the Parliamentary Assembly are participated there. About 20 journalist took part in this press-conference.

Mr Zsolt NEMETH have called the situation in Ukraina about execution - "barbarity", because more than 100 persons was killed during this year, and every information about execution is a state secret.

Mr Serhiy HOLOVATY have confirmed this and have informed, that even for the Minister of Justice is impossible to receive the complete information about execution. He knows only the figures of statistics, and informed that during 5 years of independents the situation with the death penalty are the next:
