Dear Sirs,

I just learned about the very real possibility that Joseph O'Dell, condemned to death, will be executed during the coming days, probably on December 17 whereas very consistent proof about his innocence has been found since his trial.

I firmly believe that no state has the right to take the life of a citizen. The death penalty violates the right to life and the right not to be subjected to cruel, inhuman or degrading punishment, as proclaimed in the international conventions and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

In the case of Joseph O'Dell, whose innocence has been proven but whose life will be taken none the less FOR PROCEDURAL REASONS, this type of barbarism is really maximized! I hope you will do all within your capability to undo this senseless decision.
