Two Iranians Hanged in Public
By The Associated Press
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) -- Two Iranians convicted for an armed robbery in which seven people died have been executed in a public hanging in Iran, a newspaper reported Thursday.
Shahriar Jabbari and Abolfazl Khorami-Nik were hanged Wednesday in the Iranian holy city of Qom, 50 miles southwest of the capital, Tehran, according to the daily Gulf News.
The two men were convicted of masterminding a daytime robbery in a Qom shopping mall last month that also left several people wounded. A Qom court sentenced six accomplices to jail, the English-language newspaper said without specifying lengths of the terms.
