LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Planning an artificial
common language
_THE European_ would be ideally suited
to promote a common language for
Europe. Let's call it Euro. The need for
a simple, common language is obvious.
Existing languages are too difficult to
learn and the dominance of one lan-
guage over another is considered a
threat to national identity and pride.
A planned artificial language is the
answer. Aware of all the failed
attempts by other artificial planned
languages (Ido, Volap{"u}k, Novial, Suma,
Occidental, Esperanto etc) and speak-
ing several European languages, I
would be delighted to work with other
linguists to create Euro. I can be con-
tacted by fax on (49) 89 280 2382.

(La sama numero de "The European" havas sur la unua pa^go titolon
"VISUAL ESPERANTO Contemporary photos could be the fine art of the
future" kaj similan titolon sur la unua pa^go de la suplemento, sed la
artikolo mem ^sajne ne mencias Esperanton.)
Mi ^sajnas memori, ke mencioj pri Esperanto jam aperis en "The
European". Se iu memoras detalojn, skribu al mi, kaj mi resumos por
REBATO-L.
